Our Story

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like for a wedding coordinator to get married (amidst an unexpected pandemic nonetheless), you’ll get the lowdown today. A brief overview of events before we get into our modern romantic wedding:

  • August 2019: We got engaged during a thunderstorm at Lion’s Bridge in Newport News, VA. It started with a ring pop and ended with ramen.

  • March 2020: We planned for a 220 person wedding reception at the HPO but we were hit with the very first weekend of shut downs in Virginia. After a tear-filled week, we got married at Lion’s Bridge on March 22nd. There were 13 people in attendance!

  • November 2020: In March, we postponed the large celebration to November 22nd. Nine days before, Virginia released a 25 person gathering restriction. We almost postponed the party again, but decided to push through instead.

Although it was a heartbreaking process many times, I’m so glad we chose to still hold a safe and intimate celebration. After all the difficulty, we felt a fulfilling joy after having our November gathering. I’m grateful to have had the experience in order to truly understand what many couples are facing during these difficult times. 

Modern Romantic Wedding

Our modern romantic wedding features a neutral color palette with sleek details. We wanted the theme to reflect the timelessness of our love, and yet our desire to always find and create new things. Plus, it’s the perfect theme to complement my favorite venue!

We included personal touches from our invitations to coffee favors from Canvas Coffee House, the location of our first official date. (Sinful Treats even used their coffee in our amazing cake!) After copious design plans due to constant changes, Katie & Kelsey helped my dream come to life with delicate flowers and loads of candles. And we chose a vinyl record sign-in for guests because we LOVE music. If you look closely you’ll also see our triangle ceremony arch re-purposed at the reception. My husband actually made that himself!
